Bay Vets is expanding – and not in the ‘Staff are eating too much Chocolate’ way!! Yes we are opening a branch in Caton on Monday 23rd March!! This is going to make it much more easier for our clients who live out in the countryside or fancy a post vets drink in one of the lovely pubs in the village!!

So for all those clients who are going to be attending our Caton surgery let me introduce you to the team…..

Up front we have Katie Kyle!!!

Katie is the Clinical Director here at Bay Vets, she is known for her many radio broadcasts and is a very popular member of the Bay Vets Elite!! Our Morecambe clients know Katie very well as she has been a long serving member of staff at the branch.

Katie graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in January 2002. She then spent a short amount of time working for DEFRA during the foot and mouth crisis, before joining us as at Bay Vets. Today Katie works mainly from the Morecambe surgery. She loves her small animal general practitioner role and takes a particular interest in feline work. Outside of work Katie spends her time walking, cycling and gardening. She has a cat named George who was brought in as a stray a number of years ago, and a black Labrador called Molly who loves joining her on many walks in the lakes and dales.

In support we have Sophie Lawson. Our Lancaster clients may recognise Sophie. She is also popular with the local fish and sealife of the area as she is a super-swimmer and is currently in training to swim the channel later on in the year!!

After graduating from Cambridge University in 1998, Sophie spent two years in mixed practice in Cornwall. Following six months travelling and working in Australia, she worked for a large small animal hospital in Plymouth. Sophie moved to Cumbria with her husband in 2004 and has worked in companion animal practice in the local area since then. Sophie joined Bay Vets in 2014 and particularly enjoys the diversity of small animal practice. She has three young children and a menagerie of pets, including a Sprocker Spaniel, a cat, a tortoise, rabbits and chickens, to keep her busy at home. Sophie is a keen runner, cyclist and swimmer but when she is not doing something sporty, she enjoys baking.

Louise Tulley shall also be running the show at the Caton surgery. Louise is what we like to call our ‘International Vet’ Not only has she worked in New Zealand….Louise is so well travalled she works between our Lancaster and Morecambe surgeries as well!!! Just think of the air miles!!

Louise graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1999. She initially worked in mixed practice in Cornwall before taking time out of the profession to have her 4 children. Louise is married to Will, also a Vet, and they have recently returned from a few years living in New Zealand where Louise was working as a small animal vet. In between working and looking after the family, her spare time is limited but she enjoys walking, swimming and reading.

The Nurses/Receptionists
(aka The Double Threat)

Those in Lancaster may recognise Heather who has recently been cloned as she seems to be here, there and everywhere!! Look for out for those rosie red cheeks as Heather never stays still for long. She has the perfect fur family of Spaniels, Bunnies and the ever so delightful Bob the Border Terrier who was the ultimate diva in our recent fasHion show….his gravy bones had to be measure to the exacyt 0.1 of a mm – that’s how sassy he is!!

Heather worked as a Personal Assistant until she was in her thirties, at which point she made a career change to follow her childhood ambition of becoming a veterinary nurse. As well as her impressive nursing skills, Heather is very involved with other aspects of practice administration such as promotions and newsletters. Heather loves nothing more than spending time with her various pets, but most of all her dogs.  She spends her spare time helping her husband work their spaniels on game shoots and being outdoors.  She also enjoys travelling and seeing new places and cultures.

Last but not least we have Mary!! Mary is officially part of the furniture at our Morecambe surgery and spends her ‘time off’ on her farm playing the role of super mum. She is the proud owner of Cloud the dog who is know for his thriftiness – so look out Caton…

…its Dick Turpin dog!!

Mary has been nursing for 4 years and recently qualified with an honours degree in Veterinary Nursing from UCLAN. She enjoys the varied nature of nursing, from puppy parties to assisting vets in theatre, and everything in between. In her spare time Mary is busy looking after her son, James. She enjoys going to music festivals and gigs, and looks after her pets including her cat and energetic retriever, Cloud.

So there you go!! Caton you have been warned….hehehe!!

Meep Meep!!!!!

Mike joined our team in 2015, and is excited for his new venture, after previously working in the Hospitality Industry for 7 years. Mike will be working as our Ambulance Driver/Maintenance man for all of our surgeries. He loves spending his spare time with his wife Adele, daughter Amelia and his two dogs. They enjoy taking the dogs for walks, camping in the Lake District and enjoying the outdoors in the Summer months and in the darker wetter months having “Disney Days” with his family.

We look forward to seeing you there!!
