Chairman and Financial Director
Richard qualified from Liverpool University in 1972. He practised as a mixed vet in Lancaster for 37 years, thus bringing a lifetime of experience to his present role as Chairman and Financial Director of the group. He also has a farm in Cumbria.

Mrs Katie Kyle
BVetMed MRCVS
Clinical Director
After a brief spell working for DEFRA during the foot and mouth crisis, Katie started at Bay Vets as a new graduate from the Royal Veterinary College, London in January 2002. She works mainly from the Morecambe surgery and loves her small animal general practitioner role, especially the feline work. Out of work she spends her time walking, cycling and gardening. She has a cat, George, who was brought in as a stray 4 years ago, and Molly the black Labrador is her latest addition to the family.

Mr Paul Higton
BVMS MRCVS
Graduated from Glasgow University Vet School in 1992. After a 4 year period in mixed practice in north east England, he spent 6 months travelling through India, Nepal and Vietnam before working in a rural veterinary practice in New Zealand. Upon returning to the UK he moved back to Lancaster, where he had been brought up, initially working as a farm and small animal vet. In more recent times he has concentrated solely on companion animal medicine and surgery. When not at work, he is a keen outdoor enthusiast - often found skiing, cycling, sailing, hill-walking and competing in the odd triathlon.

Mr Gary N Gibbons
BVetMed MRCVS
Gary graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1993. After 5 years in a busy mixed practice in Leicestershire, interspersed with a little global travel, he worked predominately in the East Anglia region of the UK where he concentrated increasingly on small animal work. The draw of the hills became too much though, and he moved north to Bay Vets in 2005 where he continues to develop his particular interest in small animal medicine. Away from work he can be found enjoying mountain biking, climbing, running, skiing, and in particular, keeping his three Border Collies fit in our surrounding fells!

Mrs Eleanor Skinn
BVMS MRCVS GPCertSAM
Ellie graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2002 and spent her first 5 years in a small animal practice near Middlesbrough. She moved to Lancaster in 2007 to join the Bay Vets team. Ellie is married to a chef, Stephen and has 2 children, Emily-Jane and Kieran. The family have a variety of animals at home including a dog, a cat, a budgie, 2 guinea pigs and several fish - most of them originating from the vets!

Mr Roger Salmon
BVSc MRCVS
Roger has been in this practice for 42 years, originally based at the Morecambe branch, he is now semi-retired but may be found helping out at any of our surgeries from time to time. He is interested in all aspects of small animal medicine and has completed many recent courses in dermatology, endocrinology and ophthalmology. Personal interests include golf, fell walking, oil painting, playing the guitar and learning Spanish

Miss Jenny Walsh
BVSc MRCVS
Jenny, originally from Bury, is a Lancashire lass returning back to the county! She qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2006 and went on to spend 2 years in a small animal and equine practice in Derbyshire. Before starting at Bay Vets in July 2010 Jenny had spent a further 2 years working in a small animal practice in Cheshire. She appreciates all aspects of small animal veterinary practice but particularly enjoys surgical challenges. In her spare time Jenny enjoys hill walking and yoga.

Mr Colin Houston
BVM&S CertSAS MRCVS
Director of Referral Services
After graduating from Edinburgh in 1999, Colin worked in mixed practice in Cumbria for 3 years and then spent a couple of years travelling and working in Australia and New Zealand. On his return to the UK, he worked in a first opinion and referral practice in Norfolk where he obtained his Certificate in Small Animal Surgery.
He then returned to Cumbria to work in an orthopaedic referral practice before joining the Bay Vets team in October 2011.
Colin has a keen interest in orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery.

Mrs Catherine Houston
BVM&S MRCVS
Catherine graduated from Edinburgh University in 1999. After working for 3 years in a mainly small animal practice in York, she spent 2 years travelling in Australia and New Zealand. Back in the UK, Catherine worked in companion animal practice in Norfolk for 5 years before moving to Cumbria with her husband Colin, a Director of Bay Vets Referral Services. Catherine enjoys her role as a small animal practitioner and has a particular interest in medicine. In her spare time she loves to get out into the hills with her 2 young boys Dougal and Finn.

Miss Louise Dingley
BVMS MRCVS
Louise is from a local farming family and fulfilled a lifelong ambition to work with animals in June 2012 when she graduated from Glasgow University Vet School.
After qualifying she spent a month volunteering for an animal charity in Fiji - mainly doing routine surgery and treating tropical diseases - before joining Bay Vets in September 2012.
