Your pet will enjoy plenty of attention from the minute they arrive to the minute they leave
Animals are very good at tolerating pain. They also can’t necessarily tell you when they’re feeling under the weather. For this reason, it’s down to you to make sure that they’re healthy and happy at all times. At Bay Vets we recommend that you bring your pet to see us for a routine check-up once a year.
When you arrive at one of our branches you will be greeted by a member of our friendly and approachable team. Your pet will then most likely be slipped a treat by the receptionist (unless they’ve come for our weight watchers clinic) and given plenty of fuss whist the vet is informed of your arrival.
Your furry friend will be examined by a veterinary surgeon; the majority of animals we see thoroughly enjoy this process. Your pet will have their eyes, ears, teeth, coat and skin checked for any problems with the basics, before having their heart and lungs listened to. The vet will finish the examination by feeling their abdomen for any lumps and bumps.
During the check-up, please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Despite having great communicative skills with humans as well as animals, our vets can speak in medical terms that you may not always understand; an occupational hazard!
Once the vet is satisfied that no aspect of your pet’s health has been missed, they will advise you on which course of action to take. If your pet is fit and healthy you will be invited to make an appointment for the following year. However, if your pet requires further veterinary attention you may be advised to attend one of our nurse-run clinics with them.
If your pet is prescribed any medication a nurse will process it for you. They will then be able to give you some great tips on how to administer it, and any further information you require. Our nurses are the backbone of our practice and have a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to small animal care.
In the unfortunate circumstance that your four legged friend requires emergency care, you can rest assured that they are in the very best hands. Your pet will only ever receive the highest standard of care from the professional best suited to their medical needs. We have some of the most skilled surgeons in the country, who each specialise in a different area of veterinary medicine.
