Pet Insurance

How would you feel if your pet needed veterinary care and you couldn’t afford it?

Advancements in veterinary medicine and surgery means that today, more than ever can be done to help sick and injured animals. However, the high cost of equipment, diagnostics and medicine has led to an inevitable rise in veterinary costs.

At Bay Vets we see too many animals that have treatable conditions but that are not receiving the help they need because their owner can’t afford it. Insurance is the most responsible action to take if you have a pet.

Pet insurance is claimed on more than any other policy in the UK. Animals can be unpredictable and insurance provides you with peace of mind. So should your pet ever need veterinary treatment, you are financially prepared.

There are lots of pet insurance policies available today, but it’s important that you do your research. Although cheaper policies can be appealing they rarely offer the best cover for your pet.

Some things you should consider when looking for a pet insurance policy are:

Does the policy cover things such as prescription foods and dental procedures?
How much excess will you be expected to pay if you make a claim? Does the excess change as your pet ages?
Is there a limit on the amount you can claim per condition? How long is a condition covered for? For example, will your chosen policy cover long term conditions such as diabetes, arthritis and eczema?
Pet insurance companies won’t cover any existing conditions your pet has; make sure your pet is covered as soon as you get them.
